Accommodation Bucovina

Bucovina or “The Beech Wood Country” includes Botosani and Suceava districts (in N-V of the country), and has been housing many sights with cultural characteristics such as museums and memorial houses; we remind you here about "Mihai Eminescu" Memorial House, from Ipotesti, the place where The Star (Luceafarul) of the Romanian culture was born, national and universal poet. In this land of glamour and color, you will discover the old culture and history bequeathed to our people, a legacy which is represented by a variety of churches and monasteries, built by past rulers, each and every having something specific. Therefore, the walls of Humor Monastery, where the red it is prevalent, you can see a fresco, unique in the world which describes The Conquering of Constantinopol; Voronet Monastery, foundation of Stefan cel Mare (Stefan the Great), it is famous for its inimitable blue, unique in the world, known as “Albastru de Voronet” (Blue of Voronet) with a beautiful fresco that describe “The Genesis” and “The Last Inquest”; other monasteries would be Putna Monastery built by Stefan cel Mare (Stefan the Great), Sucevita Monastery distinctive for its green color, Moldovita Monastery colored in yellow and Arbore Monastery painted in a beautiful combination of colors.

Besides this spiritual place that will certainly get into your soul, Bucovina is happy to have mineral and thermal waters that gave birth to spas, such as Vatra Dornei, Gura Humorului and Campulung Moldovenesc.

The relief of this region opens up an imposing mountainous landscape, with an impressive and parallel system of mountainous peaks – Obcinile Bucovinei (110m), the Calimani Mountains (the tallest volcano complex from Romania – 2012m) with the Lucavei Canyons, the Rarau Mountains with the Moara Dracului Canyons (The Devil’s Mill canyons).

The Ocna Sugatag or Lacu Rosu (The Red Lake) lakes are the perfect places where you can relax fishing or practicing nautical sports. Still, fresh air and relaxation you will find if you choose to walk through the Codrul Secular (Centennial Forrest) natural reservation from Slatioara and then a visit to the Pietrele Doamnei (Lady’s Rocks) Natural Reservation – the highest point in the Rarau Mountains.

After you enjoyed the fresh air from the mountains have a sip from the “afinata” (bilberry brandy), specific to this area and after that take delight in a pork stew with a tasty polenta sliced with a piece of thread, on top of which you can pour a full hand of feta cheese and you let it melt, and after that you can take a nap and give it some time to settle down.
