Dobrogea or Dacia Pontica is situated in the South-East of Romania and represents the territory between the Danube and the Black Sea.
This land has a special historical value to Romanian people, and there are many archaeological proofs from neolithic, cultural vestiges and archaeological monuments which date from the 7th century b.Ch. Therefor we remind you here about Tomis, Callatis and Histria Fortress; Mahmudia and Enisala Fortress as the Complex from Adamclisi with the famous monument called Trophaeum Traianii.
On this insular territory has place a perfect joining between old and new. The old is represented by the Macinului Mountains, over 400 years old, being one of the oldest system of beds in the world; the new is represented by the Danube Delta, the youngest Romanian land and symbol of Dobrogea, the third largest in the world (after the Nil and Amazon) and an amazing biosphere reservation where thousands of species of birds and animals live, whose beauty attracts many tourists every year.
The sun, the therapeutic mud and the treatments from the resorts of the Black Sea coastline (which borders the east side of Dobrogea) are also great tourist attractions of this area. The Danube River with the three arms (Chilia, Sulina and Saint Gheorghe) borders the northern and western sides and the south side is determined by the Bulgarian border. The Danube–Black Sea Channel, the Limanu Cave, unique in many aspects, the “Gura Dobrogei" and “La Adam” Caves are other attractions of this area.
The adrenaline lovers can visit Aqua Magic Park from Mamaia resort, after that you can enchant your eyes at the Aquarium from Constanta where you can admire over 130 species of exotic, maritime and indigenous fish, as well as the sturgeons collection which is the largest collection in the world and after that if you did not get lost through the stars and constellations at the Constanta Planetarium you can delight your self with the culinary recipes specific to this area. A glass of red wine from the famous wineries of Dobrogea and a ride with the telegondola in Mamaia can be the end of a perfect day from your holiday.
