Accommodation Crisana


Situated in the North-West of Romania, Crisana or “The Country of the 3 Rivers” is crossed by the Black River (Crisul Negru), the White River (Crisul Alb) and the Fast River (Crisul Repede), this last one crossing Oradea city (the residence of Bihor County) and giving us a reflection of the monumental City Hall building. Arad the residence of the county having the same name is another important city of Crisana where you can visit: the Arad Fortress, the Old Theatre - the oldest theatre the the Western part of Romania, the Serbian Church (18th century) etc.

Once you arrived to Oradea do not hesitate to visit: the Oradea Fortress - built in Vauban style and destroyed by tartars in 1241 - is the most important monument of popular architecture of the Western part of the country; the Muzeul Tarii Crisurilor (the “Museum of the Cris-land”), located in the former building of the Oradea Garrison’s Commandment. Another attraction of the city is the Baroque Palace, a replica of the Belvedere Palace from Vienna. Here in the yard full of roses, you can admire the Roman-Catholic Cathedral, representing the largest cathedral in baroque style in Romania (1752-1780) which was raised to the rank of basilica in 1991 by Pope John Paul II. Nearby, you can visit the Canonici Line (Sirul Canonicilor), a baroque construction with Roman arcades, 100 m long. The “Moon Church” (Biserica cu Luna), a Christian Orthodox Church is another tourist attraction which impresses through the sphere from the church’s tower representing the moon with all its stages, showed one at the time. If you got tired from all of this visiting, only three minutes away of this church you can find The Black Eagle Passage and Palace (Pasajul si Palatul Vulturul Negru) with many cafés and pubs where you can relax and enjoy some hot coffee or a delicious traditional lunch.

Mountain lovers can start off into different tracks in the Vladeasa Mountains, the Codru Moma Mountains, the Bihor Mountains with peaks higher than 1800 m and many waterfalls such as the “Iedutului” (Billy Goat) Waterfall, the “Moara Dracului” (Devil’s Mill) Waterfall etc. Moreover you can admire many deep valleys and abysses with abrupt walls and canyons such as: the “Galbenei” (Yellow) Valley, the Springs of the Warm Somes river etc. Do not forget to visit caves like the Scarisoara Cave (unique in Europe and the largest cave of the country), the “Focu Viu” (Alive Fire) Cave, the “Ursilor” (Bear) Cave from Chiscau village, the “Vantului” (Wind) Cave (the longest cave of the country) etc.

After all these ups and downs you may be a little bit tired, so we invite you to a true relaxation in Baile 1 Mai spa resort or in Baile Felix spa resort (internationally famous and the largest treatment center in the country). The “Water Lily” Lake (a natural and rare reservation in Europe) or the beech forest is the ideal place for an evening walk, but only after you rejoice in the thermal waters at one of the swimming pool areas or in one of the modern treatment centers located in this spa resort.

Obviously you can not leave Crisana before you have had a taste of “Palinca de Bihor” (a traditional hard liquor).
